  • Big Easy Sisters were founded on February 20, 2012

  • First official manifest was on May 30, 2012 at John Paul's Bar (now known as Mags 940)

  • First project took place at Hard Rock Cafe and was put on by Moana Moans-A-Lott. Raised $500 for Belle Reve. Took place the day after Hurricane Isaac.

  • Our first coronet was southern bell style hat. We found that in the humidity it just would not stand up like it should. This soon lead to Moana and Mary Pat making our current coronet after a few style redesigns.

  • Our logo was originally thought up when two former sisters were sitting around and noticed the girl on the Miller Highlife bottle. They then start to work on a drawing and adapted Ms. Miller to become The Big Easy Sisters logo.

  • In June of 2013 we attended the 40th anniversary memorial for the Upstairs Lounge fire. This was the single largest hate crime against the LGBTQ community in US history.  We wore black and did not speak nor wore any lips.

  • On August 19, 2013 after a vote of the UNPC we became an official mission house to the SPI Inc.  At the time the founding sisters were: Abbess: Moana Moans-A-Lott, Mistress of Novices: Gloree Bea DiVine, Mistress of Quill: Cathi Terr, Mistress of Coins: Eileen Eulick, Wilma Ballsdrop, Mary Pat McCooter, AuJus, Rainblow Bites, Nunsexmunkrock, Ten Buck U and Izzy Haute.

  • Shortly after the UNPC vote we had Decadence and during the parade we were joined by sisters from 8 other house from around the country.

  • On Sept 7, 2013  Sisters AuJus and Gloree Bea marched in the NO/AIDS walk. They made a huge impact on the people at the event. Many people had heard that there was a group of  gay nuns in New Orleans and were so happy to see that we had come out for the walk.

  • Nov 1, 2013 Savyah Prayer (now with the Music City Sisters) hosted the first All Saints Day/Day of the Dead event at Mags 940. We had an altar up for those to remember their loved ones that had past. We were able to raise a little bit of money from donations from the alter and the show for the sisters general fund.

  • In December AuJus put on her novice project "A Not So Silent Night". This was a combination of Christmas and Hanukkah that provided a holiday dinner, auction and show. This event was more to bring individuals in the community together that might night have a good holiday dinner.

  • We kicked off 2014 with Sister Gras. The Novice project for Moana Moans-A-Lott. She was assisted by her mentor Sr. Magically Delicious. Raised $500 for Buzzy's Boys.

  • During Mardi Gras many of the sisters attended the various gay Mardi Gras Krewe Balls. You have not seen balls like they have here in New Orleans.

  • We opened our house in late spring for new members. We had our first postulant sister in June 2014,  Tazia Ballz and in July 2014 we had our first postulant guard, Chassin Azz.

  • August 1st we applied for our 501(c)3 and got the letter stating we had been approved in mid August. This was almost a year long ordeal. Cathi Terr had been working with a local ProBono lawyer to make sure that everything was in its place. This became Cathi's novice project.

  • August  Eileen Eulick hosted her novice project "The White Trash Bash". Everyone wore their trailer park finest and help raise $800 for St. Anne's food pantry.

  • In Oct 2014 Gloree Bea DiVine started her novice project of putting together the Exequatur binder for the house. A task of pulling together as much info possible to get our point across that we are ready for the next step to become what we have worked toward for almost 3 years (three months short).

  • Nov 1st. we hosted an All Saints Day/Day of the Dead mobile alter. We started at the Phoenix and then made our way around the French Quarter and ended the night at Grad Pre. This allowed people to stop for a moment and remember those loved ones that had past. We ran into a couple that were visiting New Orleans, Ted and Kim. They locked in with us and followed us all around the quarter.

  • December 2014 turned in Exequatur binder to the UNPC

  • January 2015 the UNPC voted to elevate us to a fully professed house.

  • October 2015 we hosted our Exequatur weekend. The event was a hit. We hosted a second line to Oz for the event. The weekend was attended by different 10 houses.
